It's the only candidate with zero collisions in audio software, and the meaning is the product's promise: ballast is the weight below the waterline that keeps a vessel upright in any swell. It steadies the ship, it never steers it. That's the whole safety story ("never writes tempo, transport, or scenes; hands always win") carried in one word.
